It's a new year so time to make out your list. You might think it's impossible but if you want it you will find it. Easy to do, Just make out a list of all your wants and needs. Whats on your list? Last year I was looking for Looking for a piano, treadmill and ,2 toddler beds and I got them all free. You have to check out freecycle.org ,
"entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills."Do you have a stack of lumber full of rusty nails, bits old carpet or a litter of kittens? I have given so much stuff away, and you can make people really happy. I gave away gym lockers, 5 gal. of pink paint, baby clothing, and the piano I thought would be so great. If I am only going to give it to the thrift store so they can sell it, why not just cut out the middle man and give it away? Sometimes I'd rather see my stuff in the trash than at the thrift store, being sold for way too much. A clean basement and garage is also a benefit and you don't have to waist your time haling it away or having a garage sale.

My husband wants me to keep every thing! At first this was hard, but I wanted to honour him. Unless I have his approval to "get rid of", I keep it. You may say this is crazy...so did I, until...This past year he has brought out more things from the garage that he "rescued" from the trash and or garage sale. Like the tea pitcher that I tried to sell. He was able to bring it out, with a smile and "I told you so", when I had left our one and only pitcher at relatives. We have free stuff in our garage. Also, I have discovered, if there is some thing I am wanting, if I am willing to wait it becomes "old" and people are ready for the next new thing. We are about 2-3 years "behind" modern culture and ok with it. Perspective: we have indoor plumbing and electricity and heating/ac, a tv and computer, vehicles...what do we need?
anything free sounds good to me!
I always think we have too much stuff. The kids see a big trash bag and know they better put toys away fast. If my husband ever finds my goodwill bags my game is over so I always have to hid them. He thinks I only want to get rid of his stuff.
